Maggy Jares

Maggy started her affordable housing career at the now-defunct Lightengale Group (LGG) in 2007. LGG was similar to Diamond in size and scope, offering affordable housing development advisory services to clients in the Midwest. In 2013, Maggy became a partner at LGG and remained in that role until LGG’s wind down in 2022. While at LGG, Maggy helped to close the first RAD deal in one county and worked on many rural and large city deals. Maggy was instrumental in LGG’s expansion into Iowa. From January 2023 through August 2024, Maggy served as the Director of the Affordable Housing Consulting Group at MTS Consulting.
Maggy has worked with for-profit and non-profit clients, housing authorities and both experienced developers and new developers and is able to assist where needed to drive the process through to a successful loan closing. Source of funds that Maggy has worked with include 4% and 9% LIHTC equity, HOME funds, state Trust Funds, tax exempt bonds, private bank term loans, state donation tax credits, federal and state historic tax credits, 1603 energy grants, utility company/energy grants, Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds, FHLB AHP grant funds, equity bridge and construction loans, predevelopment loans, Enterprise Zones, project-based rental assistance, Tax Increment Financing, Public Housing Capital Funds, RAD, ARRA (1602 and TCAP) and more recently, Covid relief funds.
Maggy is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received her Master’s in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois-Chicago, where she graduated with a concentration on economic development and an interest in affordable housing.
